5 Holy Grail Products To Get That Summer Glow

Summer makeup is all about having glowing skin and looking fresh. Wearing a heavy base can make you feel uncomfortable, especially since it’s already hot,  which tends to make people sweaty. Using more lightweight foundations for the summer and products like tinted moisturizers and BB/CC/EE combination creams will help you get that dewy base. Here are five holy grail fail-safe products that will help you achieve that summer glow, without sacrificing too much coverage:

1)  Pixi H2O Skintint

I am obsessed with the Pixi H20 Skintint!  The coverage is simply stunning and looks very natural, perfect for that summer glow. It conceals imperfections beautifully. I purchased the H20 Skin Tint last summer and have been using it all year. If you’re looking for something moisturizing and for something to even out your skintone than you will like this product.  It’s oil-free and it has many ingredients like, green tea for antioxidants, rose water, chamomile and lavender that will help your skin looking fresh. Rosewater helps moisturize, while the chamomile and lavender help soothe the skin. This skin tint is a good choice for all skin types. What I love about this product the most is that it’s WATER RESISTANT, which means you won’t sweat the product off your face, Hallelujah! Only complaint: It only comes in three different shades.

2) Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

This is a fairly new release and I’ve been in love with it ever since I tried it. It’s light coverage but has a dewy finish. It looks very natural on the skin, almost as if you’re wearing nothing. It absorbs quickly, making my skin look super healthy and glowing from within. What makes this product even better is how it contains many ingredients that will benefit your skin. The product has marine botanicals to help replenish the skin, thus making it a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a moisturizing lightweight foundation. It’s a great product for all skin types and comes with a SPF of thirty which is always a nice added bonus. SPF is really important if you want good and healthy long-lasting skin. Unfortunately, this product is made only in 10 shades so some might have trouble finding something that matches their skin tone.

3) Body Shop Flawless Tea Tree BB Cream

The Body Shop is that has fantastic products including this BB cream. When I first used this product, I didn’t like it, but first impressions aren’t everything. It definitely offers more of a matte finish which at first I didn’t like, however, it’s supposed to work with the natural oils on your skin to bring out an inner glow throughout the day and it does.

The coverage is light to a light-medium and unfortunately not the most long-lasting without a primer, thus this BB cream is great for a slow day or for running quick errands. However, what makes this product a lifesaver is its main ingredient: Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil is such an wonderful and natural ingredient to fight off those pesky spots and it fights them off in such a gentle way. While the product does smell heavily of tea tree, a scent I do not mind but you might if you don’t like minty smells. Nevertheless, the smell completely dissipates once on the face.

When using this product I have seen not only a noticeable difference in the size of my pores but in the amount of acne on my face as well. I have worn this BB cream on its own but preferred to wear it under my foundation. While I know that may sound excessive, the BB cream works as a nice primer. This product is great for the oily/acne prone skins and can also work for combination skins, however, it may not be so suitable for the driest of skins. Personally, I think this is a perfect first foundation choice for teens or young girls starting to get into makeup. Sadly, this BB cream only comes in three shades so not everyone will find a shade that works for their skin tone.

4) Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra Light-Skin Perfecting Makeup

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua has a semi-matte medium to decent full coverage. It feels weightless on the skin and makes you look luminous without making you look too shiny. It gives the perfect summer glow without being too much. It has more coverage in comparison to the other products mentioned. Personally, I think the Pixi H20 Skin Tint is a good dupe for this product.

The product is also water-based thus making it oil-free. It allows for a very fresh and hydrating complexion, great for all skin types. Additionally, the product also has many skincare benefits and an SPF of 15. I’ve seen a noticeable difference in my skin after using this lovely foundation. While they have discontinued my shade and I am very sad about it,  the foundation does come in 10 different shades. Remember to give it a good shake before you use it, or else it will come out watery.

5) Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

This foundation has a huge cult following with many beauty bloggers and I see why. Bourjois is a fantastic cosmetic brand, as it owns Chanel so it’s not a surprise that its products are amazing quality. The brand is sold almost worldwide, with the exception of the United States. I humbly apologize to my American readers. However, the product can be purchased on Amazon and on Asos.

Bourjois has two Healthy Mix foundations one being the original Healthy Mix the other being the Healthy Mix Serum. While I love both and could use them interchangeably, I prefer the Serum foundation. It gives a beautiful finish and a lovely coverage, a light to full medium. It’s also is enriched with vitamins to help hydrate and soothe the skin to give it a subtle luminosity. This product is also a gel formulation, so its great for all skin types.

However, it says on the tin that it’ll hold for 16 hours and let me tell you, without a primer or powder, it won’t. It will last for most of the day, but not all of it. Also, it only comes in four different shades and all of them are very alike.

Other Summer Glow Tips:

Makeup can easily slip off in the summer. Some tips to help keep that summer glow from melting away: Remember Primer or a Setting spray, use a water-resistant foundation like the Pixi H20 Skin Tint or even the Mac Face and Body (it’s very sheer in coverage), and do not forget to powder the face, especially where you are usually oily.
