Brace yourself :
It’s summer and you know what that means… It’s wedding season! I know they are many girls who dream about their wedding day. I like to think that I’m not one of those girls, but I am obsessed with the amazing wedding dresses on Say Yes To the Dress. Wedding dresses play such an important role in a huge event in people’s lives. That wedding dress will forever hold your memory of your wedding day. They aren’t like other dresses where you can wear them to any occasion.
I know I’m not the only one who’s seen a Pnini Tornai gown on Say Yes To The Dress and has thought “Wow I have to wear that dress to my wedding (if you desire to get married).” So, for anybody else who’s interested in bridal fashion here are my top favourite wedding dresses featured on movies and TV shows.
1) Liv’s Wedding Dress
Kate Hudson played Liv in the movie Bride Wars. She was super excited about her wedding, but planning her wedding quickly became a competition with her best friend Emma. Liv’s wedding dress was a gorgeous dress. Her dress was designed by of course the queen of bridal gowns Vera Wang. The purple belt on the dress represents Liv’s personality perfectly.
2) Both of Blair Waldorf’s Wedding Dresses
How could I not mention Queen B’s stunning wedding dresses? She is my favourite runaway bride. Her first dress was designed by Vera Wang. It was truly a princess gown for her princess wedding to the Prince of Monaco. The dress was beautiful, but it just wasn’t the right guy.
We all knew that Chuck was the guy she really wanted to be with. Blair and Chuck were meant to be together. Of course, they eventually got married and she looked even prettier than she did at her first wedding. Her second dress was made from one of my favourite designers Ellie Saab. It was conservative yet classy.
3) Lorelei Gilmore’s Dress
I was so frustrated watching Gilmore Girls, because Luke took forever to finally confess his feelings for Lorelei. What’s even more frustrating is that the show got cancelled before we got the chance to see her actually get married. Her dress was perfect for her. It was a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier dress with the perfect amount of florals.
4) Mia Thermopolis’s Gown
Mia Thermopolis is one of my favourite characters in one of my favourite movies series The Princess Diaries. If anybody could rule a country it would be Mia. She showed how she was meant to be a queen even though she wasn’t married. Her inner feminist said she could do just fine on her own. It wasn’t the right guy for her anyways. Her dress, of course, was remarkable as it was designed by costume designer Gary Jones. The lace sleeves and train made the dress fit for a queen.
5) Robin Scherbatsky’ s Dress
You definitely need patience when watching How I Met Your Mother. You always wonder when you’re going to meet the mother of Ted’s children and more importantly who is the mother of his children? I never liked Robin nor did I like her with Ted. I loved Robin and Barney together and I absolutely hated the ending of the show. Regardless of this, her dress suited her. She had a mermaid style wedding gown designed by Monique Lhuillier. It fit her figure in all the right places.
7) Jamie Sullivan’s Dress
Every single time I think of A Walk To Remember, my heart melts. Such a beautiful story. Landon couldn’t have been more of a perfect guy for Jamie. He knew exactly what she wanted and made her dreams come true; to get married in her mother’s church. The lace veil and dress portrayed the simple and happy life she would have wanted with Landon.
8) Tracy McConnell’s Dress
I know I wasn’t the only one dying to meet the mother of Ted’s children. I do have to give credit to the writers of How I Met Your Mother, they created a character that was his perfect match. When you meet the mother you realize that Ted had to tell the story as thoroughly as he did because in my opinion, she was truly his soul mate. The stylist of the show Reiko Kurmada wanted Tracy’s dress to be very urban looking. She found the dress in the vintage section of a costume house. The gown was simple and timeless.
9) Elle Woods Pink Dress
Here’s another one of my favourite characters from another one of my favourite movie series Legally Blonde. Thank God, Elle didn’t get married to Warner. Instead, she proved him wrong and became a successful lawyer. She got married to her true soul mate Emmett in a pink dress.
10) Bella Swan’s Dress
Bella didn’t want anything to do with the wedding planning. She just wanted to be married to Edward. She was a nervous wreck during her wedding in Breaking Dawn, but thanks to Alice she was a glowing bride. Her dress had a lace back and had sheer white sleeves. The veil and train of the dress flowed downwards beautifully. It was designed by Carolina Herrera and Bella never looked so elegant.
Of course, they are more, but these are my favourites. I think the only reason why girls dream about their wedding day is because of their wedding dress.
But, if you think about nobody said we had to be getting married to try on wedding dresses. Just learn from our friends Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe:
