Ten Makeup Products We’ve Been Loving This Summer

In no way are Kim and I beauty experts, we’re just two girls with a makeup obsession. I am constantly buying makeup. I can’t leave the house without a winged eyeliner and a bold lip. Kim’s goal in life is to glow like a glazed donut. She wants everybody to spot her highlight from miles away. So Kim and I, have gathered some of our favourite makeup products that we’ve been loving this summer! These products will help make your skin look flawless.

1) Benefit POREfessional Face Primer

Having oily skin I’ve had to look for different techniques and products that will help minimize how oily my skin is, as well as lengthen the amount of time my makeup lasts. This summer my oily skin are bound to bring endless amounts of blotting paper and retouching with powder. One tip I picked up from beauty guru Nikkia Joy, was to apply a primer after my setting spray at the beginning of my routine, next set it with translucent powder, then foundation! It honestly, has made such a difference! This primer by Benefit is the right consistency smoothes skins, blurs pores, and controls the amount of oil on your face. Pretty darn good if ya ask me! –Kimberly Gaye, Co Creative Director, ForeverMursal.com

2) NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Almost every makeup fanatic raves about this foundation, so I eventually caved and I bought it. After using it I understand why it’s so popular.  This is my second bottle and I’ll be buying it again when it’s finished. It’s pricey, but it’s so worth it!  The colour I use is Stromboli in medium three. I’ve had a hard time finding foundations that have a yellow undertone and this foundation does, so it’s a great colour match for me.

It is made for dry skin because it does have a satin finish. I have a mixture of oily and dry skin so I do get oily in my t-zone when I use this. However, if I set my face with powder and setting spray I don’t have issue.  It blends so beautifully and makes your skin look radiant. It evens out your skin tone, has a dewy finish, and gives just the right amount of glow.

It’s a medium coverage foundation but you can definitely build it up if you would like more coverage. They have a huge shade range and it contains ingredients that will help make your skin look healthy. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director of ForeverMursal.com

3) M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix + Spray

M.A.C’s Fix+ is miracle water! It can be used at the beginning of your makeup routine or the end of to help prep and prime your skin. After setting your concealers with a loose powder and dusting the excess off, the setting spray is used to blend the powder into your foundation and makes it look completely seamless. If you want your highlight to pop, spray your brush with the setting spray and use your favourite highlight and your highlight become much more intense in colour. I’ve been using this for four years now, and will continue to purchase it again.- Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director

4) Pixi Glow Mist

I love any product that will give me glowing skin.  Once I heard Judy Travis talk about this in one of her favourites video I knew I needed to have it.  You can feel the hydrating and nourishing effect as soon as you spray this onto your face.

It contains fruit extracts, aloe vera, numerous natural oils, and an ingredient called propolis. We all know they’re many beneficial qualities oil has for skin, but I wasn’t sure what propolis was.  When I looked it up, I learned Propolis comes from bees. It is a mixture of beeswax and organic substances from poplar trees.  It has many healing properties and is used in medicine. It’s supposed to help the skin heal, so it is used in cosmetics as well.

The mist has such a refreshing scent. You don’t have to use this mist after applying makeup. You can just spray this on your face to help nourish your skin and give you a luminous look. It’s supposed to help your makeup set, but I’m not sure about that. I feel like it gives you more of a dewy finish.  I usually use two setting sprays. I use the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set to lock in my makeup and then I use this mist to give me an overall glow. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

5) L’Oreal Brow Stylist Frame & Set Eyebrow Gel

I’ve been curious about brow pomades for quite some time. I normally use eyebrow pencils or powders, I wasn’t sure how a pomade look like, but found one and I love it! Again, because I have oily skin, it’s a bit more evident when my brows are penciled or shaded in with a powder. Using the gel I’ve found that my oily skin doesn’t show through too much, and that makes me very happy! –Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director

6) L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

I’m a huge fan of L’Oreal. It’s a more of an expensive drug store brand. I’ve been impressed with many of their products. Before I discovered the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara I was using the L’oreal Telescopic Mascara.  I don’t think mascara is a makeup product you need to spend lots of money on, I think they are many great drugstore mascara’s at affordable prices.

A huge part of me wanted this mascara because of the pink packaging. It’s a brand new release, and after watching both Tati Westbrook and Kathleen Lights talk about it, I decided I needed it as well.

It is amazing! I have the colour blackest/black and once you put one coat on your lashes they’re instantly lifted.  It looks like you have lashes on! My lashes look so voluminous, and almost reach my eyebrows. I think this has become my new go to mascara.  -Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

7) Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sundipped

You can’t look like a glazed donut if you don’t have a popping highlight. These highlight shades are very intense and pigmented. I wouldn’t recommend if you like more of a subtle highlight.  I really love the top two shades, Bronzed and Summer, it’s definitely a good purchase for the cost. Sundipped is great for women who have deeper skin tones.

8) E.l.f Studio Blush Palette

There is no need to buy any blushes when you own this palette. This is the light palette, it comes with two pinky shades and two peach shades. These colours are so pigmented and it stays on your face all day long. It’s perfect if you’re going for a natural look and is great for layering on top of one another. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

9)  MAC Lipstick in Steady Going

I have been using this colour non-stop. There’s something about a pink lipstick in the summer time. I’ve recently learned that some people have a hard time finding a pink lipstick that looks good on them.  It can be hard to find the perfect pink that will match your skin tone.

It’s very well known that MAC lipsticks are amazing, this one is no exception. This colour is a light pink matte,  and it lasts all day long. It doesn’t feel drying on the lips.

10)  Forever 21 Matte Lip Gloss in Nude

I’m a sucker for a nude lip – especially a glossy one! Forever21 isn’t necessarily everyones go to spot for purchasing makeup. Many are skeptical about their beauty line and some are not impressed by some of their products. However,  I found a gem and it has become a part of my everyday life.  This lipgloss has a slight cinnamon taste and tingles your lip a little bit. The consistency is quite rich and sheer when applying it. It has a doe-foot applicator and has just the right amount of shimmer.
