10 Makeup Products We’ve Been Loving This Summer

In no way are Kim and I beauty experts, we’re just two girls with a makeup obsession. We’re constantly trying new makeup products. So Kim and I, have gathered some of our favourite makeup products that we’ve been loving this summer! These products are helping us give that glow and make our makeup last all day long.

1) Benefit POREfessional Face Primer

Having oily skin I’ve had to look for different techniques and products that will help minimize how oily my skin is, as well as lengthen the amount of time my makeup lasts. This summer my oily skin is bound to bring endless amounts of blotting paper and retouching with powder. One tip I picked up from beauty guru Nikkia Joy, was to apply a primer after my setting spray at the beginning of my routine, next set it with translucent powder, then foundation! It honestly, has made such a difference! This primer by Benefit is the right consistency smoothes skins, blurs pores, and controls the amount of oil on your face. Pretty darn good if ya ask me! –Kimberly Gaye, Co-Creative Director, ForeverMursal.com

2) NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Almost every makeup fanatic raves about this foundation, so I eventually caved and bought it. After using it I understand why it’s so popular.  This is my second bottle and I’ll for sure be buying it again. It’s pricey but so worth it!  When I’m a little more which I currently am I use the colour Stromboli in medium three. When the tan eventually fades I use the colour Punjab.  I’ve had a hard time finding foundations that have the right undertone, and I find these shades look great on my skin.

I have a mixture of oily and dry skin so I do get oily in my t-zone when I use this. However, if I set my face with powder and setting spray I don’t have an issue.  It blends so beautifully and makes your skin look radiant. It evens out your skin tone, has a dewy yet natural finish and gives just the right amount of glow. It has a medium coverage foundation but you can definitely build it up if you would like more coverage. They have a huge shade range and it contains ingredients like vitamin C and tumeric that will help make your skin look healthy. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director of ForeverMursal.com

3) M.A.C Prep + Prime Fix + Spray

M.A.C’s Fix+ is miracle water! Not only can you use this setting spray to help give you dewy skin, but you can use it to intensify the pigment of your eyeshadows. After setting your concealers with a loose powder and dusting the excess off, use the setting spray to blend the powder into your foundation to make it look completely seamless. If you want a more intense highlight you can also spray some of this setting spray on your brush and your highlight will look popping! I’ve been using this for four years now, and will continue to purchase it again.- Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director

4) Pixi Glow Mist

I love any product that will give me glowing skin.  Once I heard Judy Travis talk about this in one of her favourites video I knew I needed to have it.  You can feel the hydrating and nourishing effect as soon as you spritz this onto your face. It contains fruit extracts, aloe vera, numerous natural oils, and an ingredient called propolis. We all know aloe vera and oil have many beneficial qualities for the skin, but I wasn’t quite sure what propolis was. After some research, I learned Propolis comes from bees. It is a mixture of beeswax and organic substances from poplar trees.  It has many healing properties and is also used in medicine. It’s supposed to help the skin heal, so it is used in cosmetics as well. This mist has such a refreshing scent. It’s supposed to help your makeup set, but I’m not sure about that. I feel like it gives you more of a dewy finish.  I usually use two setting sprays. I use the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set to lock in my makeup and then I use this mist to give me an overall glow. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

5) L’Oreal Brow Stylist Frame & Set Eyebrow Gel

summermakeup8

I’ve been curious about brow pomades for quite some time. I normally use eyebrow pencils or powders, I wasn’t sure how a pomade would look like but I found one that I love! Again, because I have oily skin, it’s a bit more evident when my brows are pencilled or shaded in with a powder. Using the gel I’ve found that my oily skin doesn’t show through too much, and that makes me very happy! –Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director

6) L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

summermakeup

I’m a huge fan of L’Oreal, it’s a more of an expensive drugstore brand, but I’ve been impressed with many of their products. Before I discovered the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara I was using the L’oreal Telescopic Mascara, but I think the Lash Paradise is their best mascara yet.  A huge part of me wanted this mascara because of the pink packaging. After watching both Tati Westbrook and Kathleen Lights talk about how amazing it was,  I decided I needed it as well. I have the colour blackest/black and once you put one coat on your lashes they instantly look lengthy and voluminous.  It looks like you have lashes on! My lashes almost reach my eyebrows when wearing this mascara.   -Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

7) Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sundipped

summermakeup4

Sundipped is the perfect glow kit for women who have deeper skin tones. These highlight shades are very intense and pigmented. I wouldn’t recommend if you like more of a subtle highlight.  I really love the top two shades, Bronzed and Summer, it’s definitely a good purchase for the cost. -Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Sundipped Kit, $52, Sephora

8) E.l.f Studio Blush Palette

summermakeup7

There is no need to buy any more blush once you have this palette. This is the light palette, it comes with two pinky shades and two peach shades. These colours are so pigmented and it stays on your face all day long. It’s perfect if you’re going for a natural look and is great for layering on top of one another. –Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

9)  MAC Lipstick in Steady Going

summermakeup3

It’s very well known that MAC lipsticks are amazing, this one is no exception. This colour is a light pink matte,  and it lasts all day long. It doesn’t feel drying on the lips and I have worn this colour non-stop this summer. -Mursal Rahman, Creative Director

M.A.C Retro Matte Lipstick in Steady Going, $23.12, Nordstorm

10)  Forever 21 Matte Lip Gloss in Nude

summermakeup9

I’m a sucker for a nude lip – especially a glossy one! Forever21 isn’t necessarily everyone’s go-to spot for purchasing makeup. Many are sceptical about trying their beauty products. However,  I found a gem and it has become a part of my everyday life.  The consistency is sheer when applying it, but has just the right amount of shimmer.  This lipgloss has a slight cinnamon taste and has a doe-foot applicator.-Kimberly Gayle, Co-Creative Director
