My Highlighter Collection

I don’t know about you but I need to have highlight on my face before I leave the house in the morning. I rarely go for a natural highlight I like a blinding highlight no matter where I am going. I feel like like I look like a zombie without highlighter but when I am wearing it I feel like a goddess, who doesn’t want to feel like a goddess? As my makeup addiction continues to grow so does my highlighter collection. You definitely don’t need this many highlighters in order to get that perfect glow you just need a good quality product. Here I show you all the highlighters I have and share which ones I think are worth the purchase.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop

Becca Champagne Pop, highlighter

I remember wanting this highlighter for a very long time because I heard countless beauty vloggers talk about this product.  When my friend gave me a 20% coupon to Sephora I finally bought it and I’ve been using it ever since. Champagne Pop is more of a gold shade, but there’s a hint of pink in it as well. It has a very creamy texture, it’s not glittery it makes your skin look radiant.  Lasts a long time, which is exactly what I want I don’t like constantly touching up my makeup throughout the day.

Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold

Maybelline Master Chrome2, highlighter

This highlighter was sent to me and damn does it make your skin look pretty. It just goes to show you don’t need to spend $50 for a good quality product.  The more you put the more reflective this product will be. It has a super creamy texture and can almost give you that liquid metallic look. It lasts for a good six to seven hours. This shade gives the perfect golden glow if you’re going for that bronzey sunkissed goddess look.

Wet N Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals

Wetnwild, highlighter

This highlighter was gifted to me and I’m really happy with it. It’s not as gold as the Maybelline Master Chrome, it’s more of a champagne colour with a hint of peach.  To get the most out of this product wet your brush first and then apply it to your face and it will give you a pretty reflective sheen. The formula is creamy, soft, and most importantly pigmented. What’s even better is that you don’t have to break the bank to have glowy skin. It’s not chunky, it’s not glittery, and it lasts a good 7-8 hours.  Wet N Wild products can be hard to find in Canada because nowhere sells the full collection of products. If you do want to try this highlighter you can find them at Rexall or Walmart.

E.l.f Cosmetics Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls

elf

I bought this at the E.l.f store at Roosevelt Mall while I was in New York. It’s more of an icy highlight than golden. It’s not sparkly it shimmers and reflects the light beautifully. I love layering this on underneath other highlighters. If you want a more of a natural glow then this is a really pretty highlight. If you want more of an intense highlight then wet your brush before applying it and it will look more vibrant. I especially like using this for inner corner highlight and my cupids bow. This product is the perfect size to pop into your makeup bag if you want to touch up during the day, but with setting spray, this highlight can last a good 6-8 hours.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom All-in-1 Nude Palette for Face & Eyes in Warm Nude

Physcian Formula2 I am absolutely obsessed with this product, it’s the perfect mini face palette. As you can see I used up all the highlight shades that suited my skin tone the best.  You can get both a subtle highlight or an intense highlight with this product. You can build up the intensity and of course spray your brush with setting spray for a blinding glow.  I really love using the light pink shade as a blush topper, it gives such a pretty pink sheen to your cheeks.  The darker shades are great for eyeshadow and it last all day long. If you’re somebody who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup or just wants a quick and simple look this product would be great for you.

City Color Glow Duo

citycolor2

Out of all the highlighters in my collection, I reach for this one the least. I got this highlighter in an Ipsy bag. On the left is a cream shade that is way too light for my skin. It’s a sparkly highlight it has pink sparkles in it. I don’t like the way it looks. I don’t use a lot of cream products but I think there are better cream highlighters than this. The powder shade is too dark for my skin tone. Sometimes I use it as an eyeshadow. It’s pretty and reflective, but I don’t love it.

Laura Mercier L’Amore Exotique Face Illuminator Collection

Laura Mercier
Top left: Infatuation  Bottom Left: Temptation    Top right: Indiscretion   Bottom Right: Devotion

This is a limited edition palette, from Laura Mercier, but shades Indiscretion and Devotion are available as singles as well. It has a dry and loose formula which is different because I am used to using highlighters with more of a creamy texture. I like experimenting with different colours so I like that this product offers different shade options.  Indiscretion is not an intense dark gold shade it’s more a muted gold that has warm undertones. This colour suits my skin tone the best whereas Infatuation is more of an orange sunsety colour. Devotion is a subtle pink highlight that has silver reflects in it whereas Temptation is more of a rose gold and has gold reflects in it.  It’s not like an Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow kit where you dip your brush in and, bam it looks like a ray of sunlight on your face. All the shades give you a radiant but more natural metallic sheen. The product lasts about eight hours on me.  Even when you build up the highlight it looks more prominent on your face but it’s still not as intense as Champagne Pop or Molten Gold.  Also, I really appreciate the mirror that comes with this product.
