If you love makeup that looks like skin, healthy, natural, and effortless, you’re in the right place. The natural makeup trend isn’t going anywhere, and the secret behind it often comes down to choosing products that even out your skin tone without hiding your complexion. As a beauty editor who gets to test a lot of products, I’ve seen formulas evolve into lightweight, skin-like bases that blur just enough to look believable in daylight.
In this guide, I’m rounding up the best foundations and skin tints that enhance rather than mask, products that even out tone, add a healthy finish, and still look like your skin. Whether you prefer a barely-there tint or a soft-focus foundation, these picks deliver that subtle, polished, “no-makeup makeup” vibe.
Let’s get into it.
Skin Tints
If you’re aiming for a natural finish, you’re probably not looking for full coverage; the most natural bases let some of your real skin show through, which can mean a few imperfections peek through, too. The products below even out skin tone with a natural finish, but offer light coverage.

Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint with Hyaluronic Acid + Squalane
The Summer Fridays skin tint is extremely lightweight and hydrating, with sheer coverage that simply evens out the skin tone and looks very skin-like. It’s not the most long-lasting formula, so I definitely recommend pairing it with a primer, a bit of powder, and a setting spray. I usually reach for it on days when I am running errands for a few hours, when I want to look fresh without committing to a full base.
Make Up For Ever Super Boost Lightweight Moisturizing Skin Tint
Similar to the Summer Fridays skin tint, but with a plumping effect and slightly better wear time. It offers sheer coverage that evens out the skin tone and leaves the complexion looking healthy, hydrated, and fresh. It’s still not fully long-wearing on its own, so primer, powder, and setting spray are your best friends here.

Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint Foundation
Made famous by Hailey Bieber, this one offers lightweight coverage with a dewy, juicy finish that leaves the skin glowing. It’s gorgeous on the complexion, but because I have combo skin, I do get shiny around the 3–4 hour mark, so make sure to set it well if you’re prone to oil. Read the full detailed review here.
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer
This one is my favourite, I’ve gone through two tubes. It’s long-wearing with a natural, radiant finish that isn’t overly dewy or glowy. The formula is hydrating with light coverage that’s buildable, and I’m always happy with how it looks on the skin.

Foundations
There are plenty of light to light-medium coverage foundations out there, and some offer a bit more coverage if you want it. In general, foundations tend to have better staying power than skin tints, although some still benefit from a little powder and setting spray to lock everything in.

MAC Cosmetics Studio Radiance Face and Body Radiant Sheer Foundation
This is one of the most natural-looking foundations ever. It’s been around for years and is loved on red carpets and runways around the world for a reason. The formula provides a sheer, buildable veil of coverage with a soft glow, and delivers refreshing hydration in an ultra-light, waterproof texture that wears all day. It evens out the skin tone, looking skin-like. Just make sure to set it if you want it to last from morning to night.
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
One of my favourite foundations. It makes the skin look healthy and bright with medium, buildable coverage that evens out the complexion and feels hydrating. The only downside: it doesn’t come with a pump (sold separately), so when you pour it onto your hand or palette, a bit too much product can come out. It can look more like “makeup” depending on how much you apply, but when you use a light hand, the finish is beautiful.

Patrick Ta Major Skin Hydra-Luxe Luminous Skin Perfecting Foundation
This foundation has light-to-medium coverage with a healthy, luminous finish. The formula is infused with skincare ingredients like three forms of hyaluronic acid, plant-derived squalane, and kombucha to hydrate and smooth the skin. It’s amazing for dry skin—especially if you get flaky or dehydrated during colder weather.
MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Hydra Glow Hydrating Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid
This foundation gives such a pretty glow while still looking natural. It has medium coverage so that it can look like “makeup,” but it’s the perfect amount for everyday wear. The formula includes skincare ingredients and works especially well for dry or mature skin.
