If you want your makeup to last, powder is a must. It helps set everything in place, take down unwanted shine, and keep your makeup looking fresh throughout the day. And when it comes to setting powders, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder is one that is raved about by many.
As a beauty editor, I get to test out a lot of makeup, including plenty of powders, so I’m pretty particular about what I want from one. It needs to take down shine, smooth everything out, and most importantly, not leave my makeup looking like I’ve piled powder on top of it. At $67, Charlotte Tilbury’s version is definitely an investment, so I put it to the test to see how it wears and whether it’s actually worth the money.
How It Wears:
I love this powder because it never looks heavy or cakey on my skin. It’s incredibly finely milled, which I think is a big reason why it gives the skin such a smooth, blurred finish without looking like you’re wearing a ton of powder.
One of my favourite ways to use it is for touch-ups throughout the day. I’ll go in with a powder puff anywhere my makeup is starting to look a little shiny, and it helps smooth everything out without adding a noticeable layer of product. It’s also great for setting your makeup initially—I like using a powder brush to lightly sweep it across the face.
Charlotte Tilbury also has pink and peach versions of the powder in the Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Palette. I have the Flawless pink shade and loved it. It has the same smoothing effect, but I find the pink tone gives the complexion an extra brightening effect.
Who Would Like This Product?
I think this powder could work well for pretty much every skin type. Because it’s so finely milled, it doesn’t feel overly heavy or powdery on the skin, and the blurring and smoothing effect makes it especially nice if you have texture you want to soften the appearance of. I also think you’ll like it if you want a setting powder that takes down shine without leaving your makeup looking cakey.
I can see why so many makeup artists love this powder, as well. It gives the skin such a smooth finish and works just as well for setting makeup as it does for quick touch-ups throughout the day.
Is It Worth The Money?
At $67, it’s definitely a lot to spend on a setting powder. But for a powder that doesn’t make my makeup look cakey, gives the skin a smooth, blurred finish, and takes away shine without looking heavy, I think it’s worth the money. It’s one of those products that does exactly what I want a setting powder to do, and I find myself reaching for it again and again.
