When a celebrity makeup artist launches a foundation, expectations are naturally going to be high—especially when that makeup artist is Hung Vanngo. Known for creating red carpet looks on celebrities like Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lawrence, and Julianne Moore, Vanngo launched Hung Vanngo Beauty in 2025, and this year, the brand expanded into complexion with the Red Carpet Skin Luminous Longwear Serum Foundation.
One thing that makes the foundation particularly interesting is its approach to shade matching. Rather than dividing the range into warm, cool, and neutral undertones, all 30 shades are designed with neutral undertones, an intentional choice meant to simplify the process of finding a match across different complexions. It’s different from how most foundation ranges are organized—and naturally, I wanted to see how that translated once the formula was actually on the skin.
As a beauty editor, I get to test a lot of foundations, from longtime favourites to buzzy new launches, so it takes quite a bit for a new formula to stand out in my routine. I’ve been putting Red Carpet Skin to the test to see how it applies, wears throughout the day, and, most importantly, whether it actually delivers the kind of skin you’d want on a red carpet.
How It Wears:
I have not been able to put this foundation down since I started using it. A little goes a very long way, as it is a medium-to-full coverage foundation. You really don’t need much to even everything out, and I’ve found that using less is actually the key to getting the best finish.
What makes this foundation stand out for me is the finish. It has this beautiful natural radiance while still giving the skin a noticeable blurring effect. My skin looks smooth and nice. It doesn’t have that flat, overly matte look that can sometimes come with fuller coverage. That said, I would be careful with how much you apply. If you apply too much, the radiance can quickly start to look oily rather than luminous.
The wear time has been equally impressive. It lasts incredibly well throughout the day, and that combination of long wear, coverage, luminosity, and blur is a big reason I keep reaching for it.
Who Would Like This Foundation?
I think this foundation will appeal to those with dry or combination skin who want fuller coverage without sacrificing luminosity. The formula has a hydrated, naturally blurred finish, so you still get that glow even with the amount of coverage it provides. If you have oily skin, I wouldn’t necessarily rule it out, but I would pair it with a mattifying or oil-controlling primer and set the areas where you tend to get shiny.
I also think this would be a beautiful bridal foundation. It gives you that polished, blurred look you want for photos while still leaving some luminosity in the skin, and in my experience, it has the longevity you’d want for a long wedding day.
Is It Worth The Money?
Yes, I 100% think this foundation is worth the money. At $66 CAD, it’s definitely on the pricier side, but a little goes such a long way that I can see one bottle lasting quite a while.
The formula actually reminds me a lot of the NARS Light Reflecting Foundation, which has been one of my favourites for years. Both have good coverage and have a natural finish, but the Hung Vanngo foundation has more of a noticeable blurring effect.
And considering it’s called Red Carpet Skin, I definitely think it lives up to the name. This is exactly the type of foundation I could see myself using for red carpet makeup or any event where you want the skin to look polished and camera-ready while still having some natural radiance. I’m genuinely obsessed with this foundation and have had a hard time putting it down since I started testing it.
