Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation Review

What it is:

The Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation claims to work on all skin types. The foundation is supposed to have a natural matte finish and buildable coverage.  It is oil-free and it is created without parabens and phthalates.  In addition, the foundation claims to be sweat resistant and transfer proof.  They offer 22 shades and all shades are created to look good in any light.  If you’re located in Canada you can buy this foundation at Sephora or at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation Pros:

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation
Shade 2.1

This foundation has good qualities, but overall it’s not my favourite. It definitely gives you a natural matte finish. At first, when applying this foundation it looks cakey, but with the help of a setting spray, the longer you wear it the more the foundation sinks into your skin and actually looks like skin. It is also sweat resistant which is so important in this summer heat.

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation Cons:

I love the fact that the foundation comes with a pump, however, only a small amount of the product comes out, in order to get more coverage I have to use two pumps for each side of my face. Since I am using quite a few pumps, I’ve almost finished half of it.  I tried using two pumps for my whole face but I didn’t like the coverage, it looked like my face was unfinished.  In addition, the formula dries down rather quickly,  so make to sure to blend it in right away or else you’ll be left with a patchy complexion.  I did not like how the foundation looked when using a brush to apply it, using a beauty blender will help you get a smoother finish.

I find it heavy on my skin and dry rather than hydrating. I do not like how the product settles into every pore on my nose even after priming and moisturizing. I find that it wears for eight hours, which isn’t terrible. I don’t hate the foundation,  I will continue to wear it until the product finishes,  but I don’t love it enough to repurchase it.
