Rhode Peptide Lip Shape Review: I Tested It So You Don’t Have To

Almost anything Hailey Bieber launches at Rhode quickly becomes a talking point amongst makeup lovers. She has a strong understanding of what her audience wants, especially when it comes to products that help recreate her signature beauty looks. From glazed skin to her viral lip combos, fans are always eager to get their hands on the products she uses to achieve them. So when Rhode introduced the Peptide Lip Shape, a lip contour designed to add shadow and dimension for a fuller-looking lip, it immediately caught people’s attention. Naturally, I wanted to see how it actually performs in real life, from the formula and blendability to whether it’s worth adding to your everyday lip routine. As someone who gets to test a lot of beauty products as a beauty editor, I was curious to see if this launch truly stands out or if it’s just another hyped product.

Formula & Application:

The first thing to know about the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape is that it isn’t a lip liner; it’s designed to be a lip contour. The goal is to add dimension and shadow around the lips to create a fuller, sculpted look rather than sharply outlining them. The formula is super creamy with strong colour payoff, and it glides on smoothly. It also comes with a built-in smudger on the other end to help diffuse the product, but I personally prefer using my finger to blend it out because it gives a softer, more natural finish. One small packaging issue I’ve noticed is that the lid on the smudger side tends to come off easily. Because the formula is so creamy, it looks really smooth and blurred on the lips, but it also means it isn’t the most long-lasting product. I usually slightly overline my lips with the shade Lunge, then smudge it out with my finger. I also like using the shade Press all over my lips like a lipstick for a quick monochromatic look.

Who Would Like This Product?

If you like a precise, crisp and clean outline of your lips and like something you don’t have to reapply, this probably isn’t the product for you. The Rhode Peptide Lip Shape is really meant to create a softer, blurred effect rather than a defined line. It’s ideal for people who like that smudged, diffused lip look that makes the lips appear fuller and more dimensional. If you’ve seen the way Hailey Bieber does her lip combos, she usually blends out her lip contour to create shadow and depth rather than a harsh outline. That’s exactly the kind of effect this product is designed for.

Is It Worth The Money?

Whether the Rhode Peptide Lip Shape is worth the money really depends on your personal preference and how you like your lip combos to look. I do enjoy using mine, and I like that the slim packaging makes it really easy to throw into a small purse or makeup bag. That said, I personally tend to prefer the more defined outline that a traditional lip liner gives. That’s why I don’t feel the need to own every shade in the range.
