When Rare Beauty launched its Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes in 2020, they quickly became one of the most talked-about beauty releases of the year. The formula’s intense pigment, blendability, and instantly viral reputation made them a must-try product, while the excitement surrounding Selena Gomez’s debut beauty brand only fueled the hype.
Fast forward to 2026, and while the blushes haven’t disappeared from the conversation, they’ve quietly slipped out of my regular rotation. Not because they’re lacking in performance, but because the blush category has since exploded with new formulas, finishes, and textures competing for attention. As a beauty editor who tests an endless stream of launches, I’ve found myself constantly reaching for whatever’s new. In this review, I’m revisiting Rare Beauty’s liquid blushes to see how they hold up today, beyond the hype, beyond the virality.
How It Wears:
It’s not exactly news that these liquid blushes are insanely pigmented. That said, they do give a beautiful flush of colour on the cheeks, even if you have texture. I also find them long-lasting, though I always set mine with a powder blush. Another plus: the packaging is easy to open, which I especially appreciate when my carpal tunnel flares up.
How To Apply The Product:
Since a little goes a long way, to prevent applying too much, apply the blush to your hand or a makeup palette first. Then, use a brush to dab into the product and apply it to the cheeks, giving you more control over how much you’re placing on the skin.
Who Would Like This Product?
If you’re not familiar with handling liquid or cream products, you may not love this at first. But as long as you apply it to your hand or a palette before going in with a brush, it becomes much easier to control. It’s especially great for those who love a dewy complexion or prefer that glazed skin look.
Is It Worth The Money?
Yes, this blush lasts a long time, and because a little goes a long way, you’ll likely still have some long after the official expiry date. At $35, it’s actually less expensive than many other high-end creams or liquid blushes that can run $60+, so in terms of quality and price point, it’s a really good product. Personally, I just don’t reach for it as often anymore because of all the other blushes I own, not because it’s lacking in performance.
